• When no one is watching

When no one is watching By Alyssa Cole is $ 2.99! I thought we both reviewed it and presented it in the past at the sale, but I could not find anything. I know we were all excited about this piece. Did you read that?

Rear window Meets get out In this fascinating thriller by a critically acclaimed and reputable New York Times writer, in which the gentrification of a neighborhood in Brooklyn takes on a new and vicious meaning …

Sydney Green is a native and grew up in Brooklyn, but her beloved neighborhood seems to change every time she blinks. The apartments sprout like weeds, signs for sale pop up overnight, and the neighbors she knows all her life disappear. To hold on to the past and present of her community, Sydney channels her frustration to a walking tour and finds an unlikely and unwanted assistant in one of the newcomers to the block – her neighbor Theo.

But Sydney and Theo’s deep dive into history is fast becoming a dizzying descent into paranoia and fear. Their neighbors may not have moved to the suburbs after all, and the urge to revive the community may be more deadly than advertised.

When does a coincidence become a conspiracy? Where do people go when gentrification pushes them out? Can Sydney and Theo trust each other – or themselves – long enough to find out before they too disappear?

    Torn by Ravenna Miller

torn By Rowenna Miller is $ 2.99! This is a fantasy affair with the main character of a seamstress. Carrie read it and gave it a C +. The pace was too slow for her, but future books may be gaining momentum:

This book is the first in a new series. It has great potential – good technical writing, a number of female characters, a discussion on class and class mobility, clothing porn and more. If other books say the pace, it might be great, but this first book was too slow to keep investing.

TORN is the first book in a magical debut fantasy series that features a seamstress who sews magic for clothes, and the soaring political uprising that forces her to choose between her family and her aspirations, for fans of the Queen of Tears.

Sophie is a seamstress who has managed to open her own store and get herself and her brother, Christ, out of poverty. Her reputation for beautiful ball gowns and discreetly embroidered charms for luck, love and protection guarantees her a commission from the royal family itself – and the commission earns her the attention of a daring but utterly unattainable duke.

Meanwhile, Christ rises to greatness in the growing anti-monarchist movement. Their worlds collide when the shadow leader of the revolution takes him hostage and demands terminals to curse the queen’s mid-winter costume – otherwise Christ will die in their hands.

When the proletarian revolt reaches a violent climax, Sophie is torn apart: between her brother and her native community, and her lover and the life she strives to build.
