I saw this feature on Kerri McBookNerd’s blog and I wanted to try it out for myself!
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to make your own post, feel free to use or edit the banner above, and follow the rules below:
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but do not give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first.
- Finally… reveal the book!
If you’re using Twitter, do not forget to use #FirstLinesFridays!
I hope you all are well!
I’ve never tried this feature before and it looked like fun! I’m definitely guilty of judging books by their covers (I mean, have you seen the cover for Spin The Dawn?) And there’s nothing that intrigues me more than a pretty cover.
But maybe that will change…
The Line
Sofie had survived the Kavalla death camp for two weeks.
The Hints
Okay, so technically speaking, this is the first line of the epilogue, but the first line of chapter 1 gives it away immediately.
The book is written by a pretty popular author and this is the second book in the series.
The cover is mostly blue with bits of gold here and there, and one of the main characters features on the cover.
Have you got it yet?

My current read! I’m on page 450 -something and the story is definitely rolling now. I can not wait until I post the review!
That’s it!
Did you guess the correct book? Let me know in the comments!
PS I know it’s not Friday, but hey. Who’s gonna sue me?
Till we meet again!
