Better homes and gardens
Holiday cookbook
1967
Just in time for your holiday cooking! All your special dinners here. Aside from the standard Thanksgiving and Christmas choices, we have these special dishes for simple gatherings. Luxurious sandwiches for the whole group. Again, the same loaf-like, cake-like sandwiches that have appeared on this site more than once or twice. God forbid you make a mistake and think you are biting into a square cake.
But wait there’s more! Try a fruitcake for your next Christmas dinner. My late father was convinced that there were only a handful of real fruitcakes out there. Because no one likes it, it just gets a gift anew to eternity. I think I have not even seen a fruitcake since the early 1980s. I remember trying it as a kid that cake, but almost choking on the awful taste.
Break these holiday recipes into your next family reunion. If you play it right, people will ask you not to cook for future parties. Win-Win.
