Interview with Brien Feathers, Author of Silver to the Heart

-

What is the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Money for the Heart, Light of Adua Book One?

I have always loved vampires, magic and concepts like parallel universes. So here you are, vampires with magical abilities who are souls from another realm.

If you had to choose theme songs for the main characters of Money for the Heart, Light of Adua Book OneWhat will they be?

Well, not a theme song for this particular book, but one of my favorites is ‘Man That You Fear’ by Marilyn Manson (because I’m old!).

What is your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

In reading, I love any kind of fantasy and some well-written memories. I also like space horror-type science fiction, but I like them more in movies like “Sun” by Danny Boyle. So, yes, I love the genre in which I write.

What books are on your TBR stack right now?

I’m really dying for Joe Abercrombie right now, Calder is my favorite. Everything Abercrombie is in my TBR right now. Also, Frank Herbert’s sandy sage is also on my list (don’t hang me on I haven’t read them yet).

Which scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Spoiler alert. Okay, I’m writing the third book from the same series right now, (a second book has been completed and sent from my editor). I re-process each scene until it feels ‘right’, so I think everyone is good. I am also emotionally invested in what I am currently writing. In short, all the scenes in ‘Money for the Heart’ are good but my favorite from this book is an episode called ‘Farewell, Dad’. My favorite scene of all time right now, is in the third book because it’s always in something I’m writing right now. When I finish with that, my favorite scene will be in the fourth book.

Do you have any weird writing habits? (Lucky cups, cats on knees, etc.)

This may involve alcoholic beverages and / or other things …

Do you have a motto, quote or philosophy that you live by?

Write what you want to read.

If you could choose one thing that readers will remember after reading your book, what would it be?

After reading ‘Money for the Heart’, first book, if you could remember one thing, one thing, and that’s it. Remember this: Buy a second book! Shameless Plug: Prophecy for the Warlord, Light of Adua Second book for all retailers January 2022.
