Book starts on Fridays

Happy New Year to you all! And thank you so much for playing with me for another year of book starts on Fridays! This weekly event is the highlight of my book writing and I appreciate everyone who joins me, whether you come every week or come occasionally. I hope to see you again in 2022!

Please share the latest book early 2021 in the Linky box below. Share the opening sentence (or something like that) of the book you are reading this week, or just a book you want to emphasize.

I end the year with a chubby historical fiction classic, Catherine By Anya Seton. I just started this morning and I’ve been sucked into this glorious and complex story about court life in 14th century England.

I plan to spend the New Year weekend reading Catherine And organizing my reading challenges for 2022. Do you plan to do any challenges in 2022? Which one of them? I hope you consider the European Reading Challenge – this is the 10th anniversary of this challenge here at Rose City Reader! And the TBR 22 challenge in ’22, also here on my blog.

The beginning of my book

During the delicate green time of April, Catherine finally set out on her journey with the two nuns and the royal apostle.

Catherine By Anya Seton. This classic novel, published in 1954, brings to life the historical story of Catherine Swinford and John Magnet, Duke of Lancaster, the ancestors of most of the British royal family.

Friday 56

Farewell In Farewell’s Voice hosts another teaser event on Fridays. Participants share a two-sentence teaser from page 56 of the book they are reading – or 56% of the way through the audiobook or e-book. Please visit Farda’s voice For details and leave a link to your post.

My 56th Friday

M Catherine:

The royal family was still just glittering figures that could be peeked at the high table, and the queen was just there. Catherine had nothing to wear except the purple dress borrowed from Matilda and no jewelry to wear, so she sat embracing for a while on the bed she shared with Philippa and Johanna Cousin, listening to the excited female camel and longing to be outside. Twilight in the spring.
