“We hunt the flame, the light in the darkness, the good that comes to this world.”

Hello lovely readers!

We hunt the flame Is a book that has been on my TBR list for years and I am so glad I finally finished it.

This book does not waste time getting into the story. There is a minimal shot of information and the construction of the world is beautifully woven into the storyline.

The author’s passion and love for writing glow in her prose. The beautiful writing, along with the many twists and short chapters, help readers devour this book without any thought of stopping for a break.

Nasir and Zafira are both convincing heroes, and the supporting characters I wish were solidly written and their background stories were interesting. The slow affair between the protagonists was carried out efficiently and lasted for an excruciating time. Some writers struggle with the patience to write a novel that burns slowly, or succumb to chemistry too quickly or struggle to build any semblance of chemistry, but fortunately that was not the case here.

I admit the plot was not entirely original; The story contained many elements and themes that can be identified in the popular YA books, but I still really enjoyed the story. The group’s journey in the desert served as the perfect backdrop for characters to build their friendships and grow as people throughout the book.

Overall, I did not realize that this book would exceed all my expectations. I’m happy to say that this beautiful book is my first reading in 5 stars this year!

that’s it!

Which book do you want to read that has been in your TBR for a long time?

Until we meet again!
Xx Alexia
